I hope you might share this paper in the future? It really sounds fabulous. And here's to confronting the skepticism - yeah!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10260881414969867744noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4547316294063297137.post-19721136820030982892012-05-04T17:11:07.412-04:002012-05-04T17:11:07.412-04:00I just realized that I need to specify what I mean...I just realized that I need to specify what I mean by "conservative audience" - I'm giving a longer alabaster talk at an art history session, and that's where I expect more skepticism. But then again, maybe the good vibes of Medieval Ecologies will carry over to the world of art history!Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02067391488336878220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4547316294063297137.post-25093276162103715162012-05-04T13:40:29.909-04:002012-05-04T13:40:29.909-04:00I jumped over to your blog per Jeffrey's link ...I jumped over to your blog per Jeffrey's link and am more excited than ever. Art history makes some distinctions (or erasures, actually) of stone from statue that my fascination with stone no longer allows to sit comfortably. I feel as though this is just the beginning of the digging - let the lithic metaphors begin! Can't wait to meet you.Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02067391488336878220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4547316294063297137.post-21258317813444859672012-05-04T10:05:40.344-04:002012-05-04T10:05:40.344-04:00Hello Anne, I am a fellow panelist and am at least...Hello Anne, I am a fellow panelist and am at least as enthused as Jeffrey to hear your paper. I've written a bit about the vibrancy/vitality of stone in medieval lit (Chaucer/Geoffrey of Monmouth) and can't wait to learn more about the geological properties of alabaster, especially because I've been so excited about the alabaster sculptures. I also look forward to meeting you! I really dig that there is growing community of medievalists that are really captivated by the agency of stone; hopefully the social relationships forged by our shared interest in rock will be as strong as the lithic matter which brought us together in the first place!
